Barry R. James is an American from Pennsylvania, and was raised in Minnesota, where it is freezing cold.
He graduated (“summa cum laude”) at the Williams College, Massachusetts, obtained a Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of California and, a year later came to IMPA where he remained until 1988. He is a researcher at the University of Minnesota – Duluth and his preferred areas in research are probability and non-parametric statistics.
He likes to work in partnership with his wife Kang Ling.
